🏕️ Interested in a Volunteership or Workcamp? Join Our EarlyBirds!

Every January, we welcome a dedicated group of volunteers who trade their time and talents for full RV hook-up on campus — right here at SUN ‘n FUN! These incredible folks are our EarlyBirds, and they play a critical role in preparing our site, facilities, and operations for the SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo.

The program runs from January through the week after the Expo. Think of it as a volunteership meets aviation adventure!

✅ How to Qualify

To become an EarlyBird, you’ll need to:

  • Submit an application
  • Complete an interview
  • Pass a background check
  • Receive an official invitation

Physical Requirements:

  • You and/or your spouse must be able to walk unassisted and lift at least 30 pounds
  • Most work is outdoors, so you must be able to handle the Florida heat — this is the Sunshine State, y’all!
  • Volunteers must commit to 24–32 hours per week, typically Monday–Thursday
  • Show courtesy, be a good neighbor, and respect others’ privacy
  • Your primary residence must be at least 50 miles from the SUN ‘n FUN campus

📅 Timeline

We accept applications year-round.

  • Interviews begin in May
  • Decisions made by August 1 each year

If selected, you’ll receive a formal invitation and campsite assignment. If we’re full, we’ll happily place you on our waiting list in case a spot opens up.

EarlyBird Information

Each Individual will fill out an application.Availability Date – January 6 – April 25, 2026To qualify as an EarlyBird, the following are required:• You must be issued an invitation to become an EarlyBird volunteer.• You and/or your spouse are able to walk unassisted during the workday and be capable of lifting objects weighing at least 30 pounds.• EarlyBirds are asked to commit to 24-32 volunteer hours each week, usually Monday – Thursday.• A background check is required and will be done prior to approval• All volunteers must practice courtesy, respect each other’s privacy and be good neighbors.• Must live at least 50 miles from the SUN ‘n FUN campus.
